System allows you to search without entering any search terms crashing the system

Screens in UNIT-e allow you to conduct a search when you have not entered any search terms.
This is effect searches the entire system attempting to bring back all records.

The search button should not be live if no values have been entered or an error should be displayed telling you to first search for something.

I think it would be better to show an alert saying "Show all records" with option either to "Ok" or "Cancel". Show all option is useful in searching in small areas ( ie. Sites, Rooms Etc. ) definitely not in areas like students & enrolments.

Yes I think that would be a good idea so at least you would still have the option and better than just not allowing it.
It could say something like "Are you sure you want to return all records? - this may take a while and you may want to grab a coffee and come back in a bit!"

Also I find it annoying that when a drop-down only contains a few items you must always press the binoculars to search, enter %%, press OK for the drop-down to populate when you should just be able to drop it down straight away.
